My waking thoughts today were the words spoken by the Lord to King David where after being plundered by neighbouring enemy tribes he enquires of God as to what he should do. In response God tells King David to 'Pursue, overtake and recover all' that has been taken.
There is a sense in my heart that's exactly the position we as a family have to take. We must not only seek to pursue and overtake everything that would present itself as a threat to Sandra's well being and destiny, but also to recover everything that has been taken from her. Her character, her vivaciousness and her call in God.
Sandra had a very unsettled night with each attempt to settle her creating spikes in her blood pressure and necessitating increased levels of sedation to stabilise her.
The doctors have also expressed concern over the potential damage which could have been caused to her brain as a result of the haemorrhage and are considering a number of options in order to help stabilise her.
As a family again we declare our confidence that God the miracle worker will grant Sandra full recovery of her faculties and even in the face of adversity we stand on the surety of his word and know that in his sovereignty he has the final say.
It is said that just a small candle can dispel a whole room full of darkness, as we walk through this dark period in or lives we are assured that we do not walk alone but the light the world Jesus walks with us and take great comfort and strength in that.
Sandra had a restful night and she still remains sedated for the time being. This morning however, she has shown continual signs of improvement. Although she is still on a respirator, for the first time since Saturday she has begun to initiate her own breathing, rather then the respirator doing so. As we were praying with her today she also moved her left hand. Also today, she has also arched her back, turned her head and when Andrea told her about me losing weight due to my new diet, she raised her eyebrow. (I am still trying to work out what that means :-) ).
Later today they plan reduce her sedative at a much slower rate in order to better control the sudden spikes in blood pressure that can be produced as a result.
This has to be one of the most incredible days of my life, just a few days ago Sandra was at deaths door and those of you who were at the hospital with me knew how bad things were and as if the few signs we saw this morning weren't enough, this afternoon Sandra not only turned her head from one side to the other but also raised both her shoulders, moved her right arm and stretched out both legs.
If on Saturday Sandra was at deaths door, today God has just snatched her back - We are truly in the midst of a miracle - rejoice with us!
