24 September 2009 - Quietness and trust

Due to the continued irritation being experienced by Sandra from the tracheotomy, the medical team did a scan to investigate the cause and discovered a haematoma (blood clot) at the site of the wound.

They don't believe this to be cause for concern and think this will be dissipated and absorbed by the body over time without the need for further surgery.

In order to reduce her discomfort, she was sedated which apart from the occasional stirring allowed her to spend most of the day at rest. As she remains in quietness, let us all remain in trust.

As you continue to pray with us for Sandra's total recovery and healing, please also pray for Bishop David Carr who needs treatment for severe back pain and also for our good friend Pastor Michael White whose brother passed away unexpectedly yesterday.

23 September 2009 - Thankful

Kevin and Sandra ThomasDuring our time of prayer this morning I was reminded that as well as making our requests known to God, that we should also thank him for what has already done including the things we can only see at this time through the eyes of faith.

Considering Sandra's condition and prognosis just over a week ago, we know that at least one of our declarations have been established and we have much to be thankful for. Please join with us in Thanking God for every incremental sign of improvement as well as for those things which he will do to complete the work he is doing in Sandra.

Yesterday Sandra's condition continued to stablilize although she was a lot less interactive than the previous day, still able to respond to commands but perhaps due to fatigue doing this a lot less frequently.

The site of the tracheotomy appears to be causing her a lot of discomfort with her needing to have the airways cleared frequently after which would give her a period of settlement.

The next key objective is still to get her breathing independently of the ventilator so please keep praying over this aspect that the process will not be a prolonged one.

22 September 2009 - Nothing broken, nothing missing

Kevin and Sandra ThomasNothing broken, nothing missing is what I have come to understand as the true meaning of 'wholeness'. As we continue to declare that Sandra will 'recover all' we are also beginning to see aspects of her personality return. With a smile for approval and pushing out her bottom lip if you have incurred her displeasure (All positive signs).

As you continue to pray and declare recovery over Sandra, please also pray that as she returns to us that there will be 'nothing broken and nothing missing' in any aspect of her personality, character and being but rather that she returns with a greater personality, character and being.

While at the hospital yesterday we met a Muslim gentleman and his family whose wife had just been admitted into hospital under virtually the same condition Sandra was in 10 days ago.

Clearly very upset by the ordeal no one needed to explain to me how he felt as I was in exactly the same position a week earlier. I explained that my wife had also come into hospital in the same condition 10 days ago and through the help of the medical team and in answer to all the people who have been praying to God on her behalf, she is making a miraculous recovery and that we would pray for his wife also.

As you continue to pray for Sandra please also pray for the recovery of Shakina Hussain, that God would comfort the family and grant her full recovery too with nothing broken, nothing missing.
