05 October 2009 - Growing stronger

After a couple of really restless says, Sandra finally settled down to a goods night rest with no stirring throughout the night and most of today, with her having a lot less irritation from the inflammation on her chest, definitely answers to prayer.

Today however we saw her demonstrate some feats of strength which until now have been unprecedented.

Until now most of her physical movements have been restricted to facial gestures, nods of agreement and at extremely good times she has managed the odd wave.

During today however, she made three attempts to get herself completely out of bed and had to be constrained by the nurses in case she fell off the bed and harmed herself.

Before we left this evening still in determined mood she lifted herself and sat upright in bed totally unaided. We were totally taken by surprise as previously any movement of his magnitude could only be done with assistance.

Give thanks with us for more continuing evidence of improvements in Sandra's recovery, but also pray that she will continue to recover and gain physical strength.

04 October 2009 - A little help from our friends

A couple of years ago Sandra, myself and a group of friends went for a walk over the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire.

At the onset of our journey there was a very steep incline which Sandra had great difficulty negotiating, to the point where she contemplated giving up on the journey.

At that point each of us who were with her took her by the hand and encouraged her to keep going until we helped her to eventually reach the top of the incline, where she overcame and was able to enjoy the beautiful panoramic view at the top of he peak.

In many ways that's how we have felt as a family over the last few weeks. At each point where we felt tempted to become discouraged, we been emboldened by a text message, phone call, greetings card or even just s simple prayer and as a result we feel encouraged in our endeavours to see Sandra fully restored - once again we thank you all.

This weekend has seen us experiencing a range of response from Sandra with her being very unsettled to moments of great calmness and rest.
There have been moments when she has been able to positively respond through gestures, eye contact and even a wave but there have also been moments when she has experienced great discomfort.

One of the main causes of her discomfort is the secretions which have setted on her chest as a result of the prolonged period on the ventilator.
This requires frequent suctioning to clear the secretions and creates extended periods of unrest, please pray for the clearing of the secretions from her chest.

On a more positive note following the removal of the ventilator, the supplementary oxygen has now been reduced to minimum levels and at at her continued rate of progress she could possibly be moved from the current intensive care ward to a ward with a lower levels of intensive care.

Please continue to pray this week for Sandra's continuing improvement and total recovery.

02 October 2009 - Victory salute

Today is definitely one of the defining moments in the Story of Sandra's road to recovery.

When we arrived at the hospital this morning, not only was Sandra out of bed but she was sat up in a chair bright and bubbly in complete contrast to yesterday.

Being so excited I tried to download all the things to her that had been happening over the last few days, including all the many people around the world who have been praying and today fasting on her behalf.

She paused for a moment shook her head in unbelief and then raised her left hand and shook it in a victory salute - Nelson Mandela style!

This week Gordon Brown and the labour party may have lost he backing of the Sun newspaper. But Sandra is living testimony that she has the full support of the Sun of righteousness and we know that sun is rising with healing in its wings.

Join us in a victory shout as we continue to rejoice!
