02 July 2010 - Speak life!

I have been reminded recently how important our words are and how that as children of God we really do have the power of life and death in our mouths.
One of the most powerful illustrations of this found in Ezekiel chapter 37, where the prophet Ezekiel is shown a valley of dry bones (No worse state of decay) in a vision he is given by God.

God then asks Ezekiel if these dry bones can live (When God asks us questions its not because he doesn't know the answer, Gods questions really serve to help us evaluate the measure and sincerity of what we believe) he then replies 'Lord you know!'(Isn't it great to know that even when we don't have the answers God still does).

God then tells Ezekiel to prophecy the word of the Lord to the dry bones (the hopeless situation) and then to the wind (which is representative of the Holy Spirit).

As he speaks the word of the Lord, not only are the bones miraculously re-assembled and restored but the very Spirit of God comes and breathes life into them once more and they stood as an exceeding great army.

No matter how hopeless your situation may seem, God can breath new life again and bring restoration into what appears to be beyond hope. How much worse a state of decay can you have than dry bones? and how much more formidable a force can you be than a mighty army? God will bring you from one extreme to another as you obey and declare his word.

With this in mind we have continued to stand in faith and continue not only to believe the promises of God towards us as a family and in particular Sandra, but also to declare and to remind ourselves of the promises already made over Sandra's life.

Sandra Thomas - Speak Life!Sandra continues to show small signs of improvement and with the great weather we are experiencing, have been able to get out into the sunshine which is always therapeutic.

Sandra continues to undergo treatment for rehabilitation and physiotherapy and for the first time was able to walk unaided from the foyer area into the main Church, that was a great day!

She still gets very tired after any physical exertion but her waking hours are becoming more and more extended as time goes by - for which we give thanks.

We acknowledge the reality of our situation and take every practical step to combat these issues, but we also put our total trust and confidence in what God has said and that he will perform what he has promised to do. Its the application of our faith and works together.

So over the coming months please continue to join us as a family and to speak life over her life as we declare the following;

  • Sandra will not die but live and declare the works of the Lord.

  • Sandra will be restored with nothing broken and nothing missing

  • Sandra will fulfil all of her purpose and destiny in God

  • Sandra's latter years will be greater than her former years

I know I say this every-time but thanks again for all your prayers and continued messages of support.

Bless you all,
Kevin and family

25 May 2010 - Thank you

Just a quick note to say thanks to all my family and friends who planned my recent surprise birthday party.

I still cant believe you managed to cram so many people into one small space.
Thanks especially to my daughter Andrea who masterminded the whole thing, I will treasure that day for a very long time to come.

As we progress through spring towards summer, we can definitely see continuing improvement with Sandra's ability to walk and levels of engagement The recent good weather means she has been able to spend a little more time outdoors to absorb some of the great sunshine weather we are enjoying.

A new chapter

As Sandra appetite is beginning to gradually return, we are also beginning to see a little healthy weight gain which is also beginning to transform her appearance.

Her physiotherapist has been particularly pleased with the recent improvement in her walking with her beginning to be less dependent on support for short distances so we thank God for improvement here.

Please continue to pray for reparation in the areas her brain that have been damaged as a result of the haemorrhage that we will see continuing improvement in this aspect of her development too. She is gaining better recall of names and faces and although recollection takes a moment or two its all movement in the right direction.

Again we just want to say how much we appreciate all the folks who continually write and call to encourage and support us, may God continue to show great favour to you all.

20 April 2010 - Chrysalis

I love youIn the same way in which you can observe the emergence of new life when a chrysalis transforms into a butterfly, after a long time in the 'cocoon' we are beginning to see signs of transformation in Sandra and although like the butterfly much of this new life has a different expression. This is made all the more beautiful when you understand the miraculous process that has been undergone to arrive here.

Although still easily fatigued, we glimpse moments of her sense of humour emerging when something funny captures her thoughts for a few moments and eventually manifests in a wry smile. Its almost impossible not reflect that smile back.

If laughter is like a good medicine, Lord please keep renewing our prescriptions with even stronger doses.

As Physiotherapy now begins in earnest, physical stamina remains a big challenge with Sandra still needing much support to walk for extended distances and getting very tired as a result.

We have noticed that her periods of conversational engagement continue to improve as she now starts rehabilitation, but still needs time to be able to respond when engaging in extensive discussion.

We thank you for all the awesome prayers that have been going up on our behalf and are glad to confirm that although we still face a number of challenges we are being sustained by God's grace and power, again we thank you.

As the month progresses please pray specifically for regeneration of the damaged brain cells and that we will continue to see improvement in this area and please also pray for the Mosquito family who's son Michael was taken very seriously ill recently with a suspected tumour we ask for a miracle for them also.
God bless you all.

Kevin, Sandra and family
